Do not seek closure

Image
All my life I have been misled by a 'closure' idea behind everything, I have realized that it's better to let sleeping dogs lie, in this case, why seek closure at all. Let some things remain as they are. Open. It is a psychology you have to adapt to. That's why this.

Orange...

Image
Orange, till yesterday, I thought was a colour strange. I wrote Many summers ago, when I saw her dressed in the colours that slew: I should have waited before I inked that thought and took a vote,  Cause years later there was “Orange is the new black” and I knew… Cause years later there was “Orange is the new black” and I knew…

Thomas' 60th Birthday

We celebrated my bro Thomas Dass' 60th birthday in Mysore on the 15th of July. It was a great event with more than 50 people in attendance. There were some messages from all over. Goes on to show he is a good guy with a good heart and deserves all the accolades. Here's to you!

The biggest smile

We smile the most thinking of our own errors of the past. Were it to convert, it would be a loud, boisterous laughter that would stop the world on its track!

The natural world

There are some common things between animals and humans. The top two are food and reproduction. While there are many other common denominators one thing stands out. While in the animal world, the preys are usually herbivores and the predators are carnivorous. There are exceptions. Even the plants are fodder for the herbivores. But then how do the human and animals compare in this arena? Simple, while those on the top of the food chain target the lower-placed animals, in the human world the food does not come only from animals, but is also packaged. But one other thing stands out, humans do target humans for the end gain of food, well-being, and security. The rich prey on the poor. Period. The examples are many. Politicians, godmen, film stars, celebrities, et al.

One of my friends, a consultant Botanist, is always driving out of town for meetings and site visits, usually out of town. A cousin once told him in exasperation, "Every time I call you are on the wheel, tell me are you working as an Uber or Old driver?"

Interview?

Image
There are people when asked to speak about themselves forget to see the importance of the question. Understand the question. Be prepared. Practice. Write it down. Do you want to show them that you have had a normal upbringing? High grades in school. Don't start off with "Myself is...." Wrong. While you should try not to use the "I" pronoun much in an interview - or anywhere - the question begs you to use it as many times as you like. So you can start off by saying "I was born in ... My dad was working as... Mom was working too as a ... I have two elder /younger siblings. I was schooled in ... where I passed out with good grades... I did my engineering/ et at ... I have interned in You actually can finish of your life story in 2 minutes. More if they enquire about it.

Bertie's Golden Egg (By ChatGPT)

Image
Bertie Wooster, that delightful young chap with a penchant for trouble, found himself in a jolly old pickle once again. This time, his old friend Gussie Fink-Nottle had invited him to the prestigious Gussage Manor for a weekend of merriment. Little did Bertie know, he was about to step into a world of shenanigans that would make even the most seasoned valet blush. As Bertie arrived at Gussage Manor, he was greeted by a rather peculiar sight. Gussie, donning an extravagant feathered hat and a pair of ill-fitting trousers, approached him with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Bertie, old bean!" Gussie exclaimed, "You're just in time for the annual Gussage Manor Egg Hunt!" Now, egg hunts were not uncommon to Bertie, but this one was rumored to be a rather extravagant affair. The prize? A solid gold egg reputedly worth a small fortune. Bertie, being a true adventurer at heart, couldn't resist the allure of such a prize. With a gleam of determination, Bertie don...

Become The Better You!

Image
Well, I will have my first book out next week and it should be available online from Amazon and other online stores soon. Here's the first peek of the cover. Just for the curious, you can either buy a hardback (Rs 500) or a paperback (Rs 250), or an eBook (Kindle) at  just Rs 100. Here's a review from a previewer: “At first glance, you wonder whether the author knew what he was doing with the title “Become the Better You” when the content (seems) is in direct contrast. We have conversations between varied people painting a picture of their profession and what it means to normal life. But by the end of the book, I was wondering about my life, my education, and my work and how it made a difference to me. Perhaps the author wanted this and then I decided, perhaps the title was not far off the mark. True, I learned that languages are important – I wish I knew more! – I learned a little about Philosophy and want to know more about Indian philosophies. Yes, there is a possibility ...

Writer read.

To be a good writer you need to read good books. And write. Both of which I started quite early in life. Good books. The first book I read was an Enid Blyton book – Five Go to Demon’s Rock. Damn, the title was spooky and the tale was not but it got me hooked. All the books, or most of them. Five Find-Outers. Then came The Three Investigators with an intro by Alfred Hitchcock. In between I was fortunate to land on Sherlock Holmes; Valley of Fear and then rounded up with all the stories including The Lost World and more. I was lucky to have Three Musketeers as also R L Stevens’ Kidnapped, Treasure Island. There was the Count of Monte Christo… which was allowed by Shakespeare and Dante… I read through the whole Bible – for kids! I read poetry and then I read through all the books I could lay my hand on… Books I wasn’t supposed to read, but I did. And I am still alive. And sane. They all taught me one thing. Words are pure magic. The tales you can spin!   Now, I hardly read pape...
